We offer 9 Days Accommodation and 7 days guided metal detecting!
At Metal Detecting Holidays we have over 15 years of historical and metal detecting experience in this archaeologically rich part of the UK, on the border of England and Wales. 


We are a stone's throw from the Legendary Whittington Castle, where Dick Whittington set out on his adventure to London, and one of the largest Iron Age hill forts in the UK is just on the doorstep! 

With fortified monuments, castles and other outstanding historical places to visit, our metal detecting vacations on the border offer a very high potential for finds. Plus expert advice for the novice to seasoned metal detectorist, and a personal touch from the minute you arrive in England until the minute we return you for your departure back home.

The West Wing                           Sleeps Two

This is a beautifully renovated wing of large period property. You have a spacious double bedroom with luxury en-suite as well as a fully fitted kitchen and private sauna room! There is a decadent living room/ dining room with wood burning stove and french doors that look out over the garden.

The Coach House                       Sleeps Five

                                                 (Inc. Two Kids)

This recently renovated coach house is light, comfortable and welcoming. It has a double master bedroom, a second bedroom with bunk beds and a third single room. Downstairs you have a fully equipped kitchen/diner, a bathroom, and a sitting room with french doors leading to a large patio and private garden.

  • 9 days superb self-catering accommodation in Whittington, Shropshire. Only 50 metres walk from Whittington Castle

  • Personal detecting guide who is passionate about local history and metal detecting - Mapping also supplied.

  • 7 days digging in prime Locations - Daily transportation to/from the fields.

  • Best potential for finds from Bronze Age, Celtic, Roman, Anglo Saxon, Medieval & later periods

  • Export Licenses arranged for you for finds over 50 years old. We work closely with our local Finds Liaison Officer, offering help with recording finds and valuable advice.

  • Access to more than 200 historic fields covering over a thousand of acres of land right on your doorstep.

  • Many of our sites have never had a metal detectorist’s footprint on them.

  • Excellent track record of finds as shown in our exciting gallery & Facebook pages

  • On-site expert to identify finds as they come up to keep you focused on hot spots

  • Tea and coffee served throughout the days detecting right in the field

  • Digging spades and a spare metal detector provided if needed – on first come first served basis

Lidar and side by side Mapping Supplied where possible - We also have access to historical data in most areas that we detect.
